Humira Attorneys with a Proven RecordOur Lawyers Have A Proven Track Record in Humira LitigationWelcome to HumiraJustice.com, an educational website of the PERDUE KIDD & VICKERY law firm in Houston, Texas, an experienced pharmaceutical litigation law firm. We currently represent a number of clients across the United States who have personal injury or wrongful death claims allegedly related to Humira. Lawsuits are currently pending in Texas, Tennessee, Massachusetts, and, of course, Abbott's home town of Chicago, Illinois. Our most recently filed case in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York is DiBartolo v. Abbott CASE#: 1:12-cv-00900. The facts of the case are outlined in the pleadings on file with the court. On her first visit to a dermatologist obtained through the provider network of her insurance company, New York lawyer and financial services specialist (and newly designated Chairperson of the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce) Cynthia DiBartolo was prescribed Humira to treat her psoriasis. Five months later, she was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of her tongue. Surgeons at the Nation's top cancer institute encouraged this beautiful woman to treat this Humira-induced cancer with a radical neck dissection and mandibulotomy - pictured below - which would have left her face disfigured and herself with limited opportunities for regaining functionality in speech, eating and swallowing. Cynthia refused to undergo what she calls a "barbaric" surgery. After obtaining numerous medical opinions, she consulted with a world-renowned head and neck cancer surgical team at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City who were willing to at least attempt to perform a partial glossectomy, tongue reconstruction and radical neck dissection without disfiguring her face.
Two years after Cynthia's ordeal, at the insistence of the FDA, Abbott finally warned physicians and patients about the risk of Humira induced skin cancers like Cynthia's. Perdue Kidd & Vickery have recently filed suit in Cynthia's behalf in a federal court to hold Abbott accountable for her enormous damages and permanent disabilities. Abbott's $6.5B/year blockbuster drug Humira has been associated with extremely serious adverse side effects in three broad categories: (1) malignancies, (2) neurological disorders, and (3) "opportunistic infections." For more information regarding the latter, please see our Humira Invasive Fungal Infection Education Video. Most recently in April 2011, the risk of young patients developing a rare, aggressive, and usually fatal form of cancer called Hepatosplenic T-Cell Lymphoma (HSTCL) when using Humira was highlighted by the FDA. Despite its competitors warning of this lethal risk since at least 2006, Abbott waited until March 2011 to warn doctors and patients. As of September 7, 2011 the FDA has ordered a change to the Black Box Warning on the Humira label to include 2 bacterial pathogens - Legionella and Lysteria. We are lawyers who know our clients. Our law firm evaluates each client's case on its own merits. Our intent is to litigate each client’s case using the resources and talent of Perdue Kidd & Vickery.
